Mimosa Pudica Uses | Mimosa Pudica Medicinal Uses and Health Benefits

Mimosa Pudica is also called Touch-me-not Plant. Today I want to share with you Mimosa Pudica’s uses and important facts. When we touch this plant, it will shrink. This plant belongs to the family of Fabaceae. As soon as these Touch-me-not Plant leaves are touched, they will shrink inwards and fall off. It will be back to normal again in thirty to forty minutes.

Mimosa Pudica Important Facts:-

  • Mimosa Pudica is also called antipathy or Sensitive Plant, or Touch-me-not Plant.
  • In Latin, Touch-me-not Plant is called Neptuniao Leracea.
  • Touch-me-not Plant native place in South America and Central America, now this plant is grown in all temperature regions of the world.
  • It grows in dark areas, shrubs, or under trees to protect itself from damages when we touched and will be back to normal after a few minutes.
  • The stem of this plant is erect in young plants, as grown after a short vine.
  • And the stem grows up to 1.5 meters long.
  • Flowers will bloom that the plant grows on, and the flowers of this plant are pale pink and rounded.
  • And the Fruit clusters of this plant are one to 2 cm long.
  • When the fruits are dried, they will split into two to five groups.
  • The seeds of the Touch-me-not Plant are 2.5 mm long, and the color is light brownish.
  • These flowers will be pollinated by the air and insects.
  • These seeds have a tight layer rather than germinate.
  • The shrub of this plant grows with a twig structure.
  • There are two types of Mimosa Pudica’s, which are Thornless Mimosa Pudica and Thorny Mimosa Pudica.
  • The Thorny Touch-me-not Plant grows to a height of two to three feet from the ground. And the leaves are very small as like snail leaves. And these branches have thorns. Flowers of this thorny mimosa pudica are reddish-purple.
  • The Thornless Mimosa pudica is grown on the ground and will spread on the ground. It also grows in saturated areas to two to three yards above the ground. The flowers of this thornless plant have yellowish.

Why do Mimosa Pudica leaves shrink when touched?

  • The mimosa pudica leaves shrank immediately when we touched by our hand, or any insect or water droplets or strong wind.
  • This is because of thick budding leaflets at the point where the leaves will meet the twig.
  • When we touch these leaves, water from the soft tissue in it will go into the stem.
  • A result of this, the firmness will decrease.
  • After a while, water from the stem enters into the bud, and the leaves return to normal.

  • The Touch-me-not plant is having a chemical of mimosine alkaloid.
  • Touch-me-not Plant purifies the blood.
  • It stops the bleeding from the nose.
  • Touch-me-not Plant reduces diabetes, hemorrhoids, jaundice, fever, heart attacks, hip pain, and inflammation.
  • And it heals old sores.
  • It drains gynecological diseases.
  • Take one part of Touch-me-not Plant leaves powder and two parts of natural sugar powder and mix it well. And then, take half spoon of this powder, mix with water and drink it daily until menstrual periods come. Stop it after periods arrives.
